The day in tweets for 2012-01-26 from The Smiling Assassin

  • @BarryMarelli Spurs at home on a week Saturday. #
  • Forgot to talk about it last night but a (rumoured) loan move for Raheem Sterling could be exactly what he's after…. #
  • Even though I thought that Kenny was going to try and blood him into the 1st team squad this season. Again, what do I know. #
  • @pauledwards1973 best performance from him for a couple of months. Not saying much I know but still. #
  • @dant7733 I think (potentially) playing week in, week out for a Premier League team is more use to him now than playing reserve/youth games. #
  • @dant7733 But yeah, Owen Coyle does seem to have some magic touch when it comes to developing younger players doesn't he? #
  • @dant7733 He'd have to be playing week in, week out whereever he goes, otherwise it'll be a complete waste of time him going on loan. #
  • IF we win the League Cup, I think it'll be a huge confidence boost going into our (relatively) easy run in. #
  • Last 12 games (1/2); Arsenal(H) Sunderland (A) QPR(A) Wigan(H) Newcastle(A) Aston Villa(H) Blackburn(A) Fulham(H) #
  • Last 12 games (2/2); West Brom (H) Norwich (A) Chelsea (H) Swansea (A) as well as a rearranged game against Eve*ton, so nothing too hard. #
  • However, as Arsenal proved last season, losing a League Cup final when you're the heavy favourites can absolutely destroy your season. #
  • .@Riaz1982 Mark Bright once admitted, on national radio, that he'd never heard or seen Juan Mata play "except for clips on YouTube" #
  • .@Riaz1982 This was when he'd just signed for Chelsea and had been in the Valencia side for about 4 years. Utter joke of a pundit. #
  • @MARKOPOLO100 Have you been watching Family Guy again? :-) #
  • I reckon @lfctv must be breaking some kind of viewing figure record for this time of night. #yesimwatchingitaswell #
  • So @JBcommentator is doing a commentary on his commentary. A first, surely? #

The day in tweets for 2012-01-25 from The Smiling Assassin

  • Is it brave or stupid of Kenny to pick the same side that lost to Bolton. Personally, I'd have shaken things up but then…. #
  • I haven't won 4 league titles, so what do I know? #
  • @markjepson @Mike_Arkwright He's not in form at the moment and deserves criticism. Think CA would be the first to admit it. #
  • OK, maybe it wasn't the EXACT line-up that started against Bolton but everyone who starts was involved in the game. My point still stands. #
  • Next question of the evening; Ben Shepherd. Why? #
  • Has Andy Burton left a "brick" on Kenny Dalglish's driveway or something? Even by his usual standards, he clearly doesn't like the man. #
  • Charming, and how lovely to make your acquaintance! RT @JoeD2k10 @TSmilinAssassin no your point doesn't stand. Your wrong, get over it. #
  • Last chance for Kenny tonight; he either gets the 3 points or he should be sacked. #
  • Right, let's see who hasn't got their sarcasm filters switched on this evening, shall we? #trolllikestateofmind #
  • @iainmacintosh what you're saying is that he's the Colleen Nolan of refereeing then? #
  • Very, very rarely. RT @Pchorney @TSmilinAssassin are you serious #
  • That was a harsh decision but thankfully Phil "not on my watch" Dowd is in full pedant mode tonight. Penalty in the net before Hart moved. #
  • We've deserved a goal. Whether we deserved THAT goal is debatable. Good game though. #
  • Kuyt's been a passenger the last 10 minutes. Need a change fairly soon to freshen things up. #

  • Strange how the BBC only have James Richardson doing this Late Kick Off show. Seems a bit of a waste IMO. #
  • If I was in charge at the Beeb, I'd have him doing a Monday night round up of EPL, championship & league football. That would be great. #
  • .@Skipper8_ Texeira's only 20 and has potential to get better. Alves was 25(?) and Boro paid way too much for him. Big difference. #
  • Wow, if 2 honourable football people such as Harry Redknapp & Milan Mandaric could be guilty to tax evasion, who else could be doing that? #
  • I do hope most of you are intelligent to spot the sarcasm in that last tweet. I suspect most of you are. #
  • Mr Redknapp… is the most successful English manager in the modern game, having led Portsmouth to FA Cup success; this statement saddens me #
  • James Pearce, BBC Sport; "this is a trial that is going to receive a great deal of attention"- Unless your one of Arry's many journo friends #
  • In which case, they'll still think Arry is lovable old cockney geezer like Vinnie Jones or Mad Frankie Fraser. #
  • Hard to argue with this. RT @graemehunter @TSmilinAssassin likewise with the idea that Harry is the ideal England manager *horror* #
  • It costs £440k to send Cheryl Cole to Afghanistan. How much to send Ashley & how much to keep him there? http://t.co/PhrTUOWS #
  • The owners ARE in town then. Suspect some deals/shit about to go down/be completed very soon. #
  • Slightly random question this but is Martin Keown coaching with anyone? #
  • Only reason I ask is that I remember signing him as my defensive coach in FM2010. Very good one he was too. #
  • Speaking of FM2010 memories, I remember signing Nathaniel Clyne for a few million. And Cardiff's Gunnarsson too. Both canny signings. #
  • Gunnarsson I turned into a very useful right winger. Took a couple of years to develop properly but justified his £3.5m price tag. #
  • @propagandaphoto as I said about the FA a few weeks back, there's a difference between being corrupt and being inept. Webb possibly both! #
  • Getting bored of the football, so turned over to The Shawshank Redemption. Soundtrack alone is amazing, rest of film isn't bad. #
  • @zarifrasul perhaps he should've titled that article "Look, LFC fans, I'm not a complete bellend. Honest!" #
  • @TonyEvansTimes @anlfcfan Let's calm down eh fellas? We are none of us perfect. #
  • It's Gerrard vs Gerrard (potentially) in the League Cup final then? #

  • The Internet is the narcissists best friend; always give them the attention they so desperately need. #
  • Even if they have to set up fake accounts in the name of journalists to get it. #
  • Here's here all week! RT @milfordio These look like some excellent #LFC transfers to me http://t.co/5VWdkrME #
  • RTing myself from last night; David Texiera: http://t.co/exk5zQJS has scored a goal every 139.11 mins this season. #
  • His market value is only £3-4m too, so could well end up being a Coates style bargain. #

The week in tweets for this past week from The Smiling Assassin

  • Lots of mentions of Jermaine Defoe on my timeline over the last couple of days. Good, he's a player I've always had a lot of time for. #
  • Defoe is pacy, a very good finisher and at 29 still has a good few years left in him. Price is key though, anything over £8m is too much. #
  • Most people seem to disagree with me about Defoe, which is fair enough. Seems as if I'm going against the grain on that one. #
  • I suspect I'm going against the grain again when I say that I don't consider Chris Samba quite as good as many seem to think he is. #
  • Anyway, that's the "serious" stuff out of the way. Moving on… #
  • Just found out about Bill Kenwrights show on Radio 2 today. Good to see he's FULLY focused on the sale of Everton Football Club then….. #
  • If I ever meet Andrew "Andy" Cole I'm going to repeatedly call him Andy just cause I get the impression it would annoy him massively. #
  • Doesn't the story go that he wanted to be called Andrew rather than Andy cause he wanted to be taken more seriously? #
  • Not be a boring twonk who tries to sing the sort of shite R&B that not even R Kelly would touch would be a better place to start, eh Andy? #
  • For anyone who hasn't heard it, here's Outstanding by Andy Cole, the most ironically titled track ever http://t.co/9NJwCddQ #
  • @__Quattro it was something like that anyway. Never have or will take him seriously as it is. #
  • Bill Kenwright's radio show starts in under 10 minutes & I can exclusively reveal the first track he'll play… http://t.co/Qr3jtrEx #
  • If you haven't signed it yet, do so. http://t.co/0kIccip1 #
  • Go here http://t.co/0kIccip1, fill in your details, check your emails and click the link in the email. Simples. #
  • If Gary Glitter quit tweeting while on the toilet I imagine the headline would be "GLITTER IN A SHITTER IS A TWITTER QUITTER" #
  • Is it wrong that I'm overly proud of that last tweet? Oh, it is. Ok. #
  • Points for effort here RT @GarethMcKenna @TSmilinAssassin If he was an Evertonian it could be "Bitter Glitter quits Twitter on Shitter!" #
  • Joey Barton can tweet or link to as many Hillsborough related petitions as he likes; he'll always be a massive bellend. #
  • Today's #LFC game is the first one I've put a bet on in some time. Which pretty much guarantees we're going to lose doesn't it? #
  • I'd also take Owen Coyle's comments about Andy Carroll more seriously if he wasn't the man who spent £4m on David Ngog. #
  • Pretty shameful on my part I don't watch the U18 games more, especially as they're all broadcast for free on @lfctv. #notaproperfan #
  • Good to see #LFC #039;s poor run of form with penalties is extending to the U18s as well. #
  • Adam Morgan looks like a young Richard Keys. #nooffenceintended #randomobservation #
  • @wrickz I'm watching it on @LFCTV on Sky in the UK, so I don't have a link I'm afraid. Sorry. #
  • 20 minutes in and hard to tell which side came up from the Championship and which side won the title 2 years ago. #CFCvNCFC #
  • Odd how for once the forwards are playing well and the defence are playing quite poorly. Makes a change I guess. #
  • #tweetoftheday RT @JB91_LFC Don't quite think tweeting Charlie Adam directly and telling him to retire will improve his performances somehow #
  • Not nearly enough pace, guile or skill in this side. Lots of measured passing but little or no attacking threat. #
  • But let's not forget that the squad Kenny inherited a year ago was a disgrace. Lots of potential & plenty of time to fix issues now. #
  • We are, in all areas of the club, still a work in progress. People need to remember this, not have kneejerk reactions to poor performances. #
  • Not denying we've been poor but compared to the 1st half of last season, we've come a long way. Been poor today though, no question. #
  • I politely disagree but respect your opinion. RT @dant7733 @TSmilinAssassin we've been poor for most of the season, actually. #

The day in tweets for 2012-01-22 from The Smiling Assassin

  • David Goodwillie scored today, did he? I know his cousin John Finepenis is highly rated in Scotland. #
  • @anlfcfan As I said earlier, IF we win the League Cup, I think it'll be a massive relief (and release) for the players and the club. #
  • @anlfcfan Too many players playing with anxiety and some of them trying far too hard, as hard as that might seem given today's game! #
  • @anlfcfan After today, I don't think Kenny will allow anything else but 2 wins. And he'll make that perfectly clear as well. #
  • Blackburn's David Goodwillie going nowhere admits his agent John Wizardssleeve. #enoughgoodwilliejokesforonenight #
  • The highlights of our game on MOTD tonight are exactly the same length as this: http://t.co/18bklxlw A better way to spend 9+ minutes I feel #
  • @FartScissors @royhendo Only 2 possibly worth blooding are Sterling & Morgan for me. Couldn't do any harm, could it? #
  • Oh well, at least we weren't last on MOTD tonight #positives #motd #
  • @FartScissors @royhendo And Morgan hasn't scored since October, so so much for that idea. #
  • @FartScissors @royhendo another one from the "doesn't want to be @ #lfc quot; file. His loan deal is hideously complex anyway. #
  • Recall Dani Pacheco? He's hardly setting the Spanish league alight this season; 8 games, no goals, no assists, 222 mins played & now injured #
  • @Skythanil @tonycrammond the wise man you're thinking of never said that. Is a nice quote regardless. #
  • Funny how people are saying that we can't catch Club X now; seem to remember Utd overturning 12 point leads with 10 games to play before. #
  • Point is that there are plenty of games left to catch up to 4th. See where we are in May then criticise all you want. #
  • The incessant droning I here on SS1 is ruining my enjoyment of this game. The blimp above the ground isn't helping either. #whychriscoleman #
  • People need to remember that the City & Spurs teams today were being built at the same time 2 American cowboys were "asset stripping" #LFC . #
  • It's only in last year that we've had any serious investment and may be another year till we see a proper return on that investment…. #
  • If you want instant success then feel free to take a trip to the Etihad/Eastlands/City Of Manchester stadium/whatever they're calling it now #
  • By instant success of course I mean one trophy in five years of spending silly money on above average players but hey, you'll be happy eh? #
  • You'd think so, wouldn't you? RT @Simonreah There have to be better commentators available than Chris Coleman. #
  • Was about to tweet the same. RT @SiClancy Moan all you like about Downing and Carroll but Sami Nasri is a proper waste of money. #
  • Dear Chris Coleman, Please STFU, Yours Truly, etc…. #
  • Note to Sky; running adverts for Sky 3D on the Sky 3D Channel, which can only be viewed in 3D, probably isn't cost effective marketing. #
  • Still, good thing about Sky 3D is that I no longer have to put with Chris Coleman #winning #
  • Certain sense of irony in the fact that Mario Balotelli has a haircut that resembles a "Brazilian". #
  • Great camera angle choice from Sky for that pelanty. Can we have that angle for every penalty please? #
  • Feel sorry for Howard Webb though. In giving that penalty he missed out on being the 1st person to give Fergie his weekly Monday reacharound #
  • Just had a nice little clear out. Down to 952 following now. Anyone want an unfollow? #joke #
  • @SunnyMidnight most of them were people who hadn't tweeted for a while, rest were people who I was following yet had unfollowed me. #
  • #ScottishFilms Irn Bru Man #
  • If ever there was an argument for a young player NOT to sign for Arsenal, then surely Theo Walcott is that. #
  • Signed at 17, spent 3 years in Arsenal's reserves and is now arguably a WORSE player than when he signed. Could've been a great player. #
  • Watch him score in the next 5 minutes, you mark my words. #
  • Phillippa Jones looks to be in some pain. Hope the lass is alright. #

  • IF we get through to the league cup final and IF we win it, you watch our performances change in an instant. #
  • Amuses me that people say we should have kept Aquilani & Mereiles instead of getting Adam & Henderson. #
  • In the process they of course forget that they both wanted out of #LFC But yeah, let's keep two players who wanted nothing to do with us… #
  • Many ways to read this tweet…. RT @Emperor_Kenzo @TSmilinAssassin We are lacking kwality. #LFC #
  • Was a cracking bit of facial hair. RT @BabaGhanooshh Bearded LFC fan >>> #
  • Biting my tongue hard here in an effort not to reply to some peoples tweets. Some real "corkers" being posted, I must say. #
  • I've been watching #LFC for nearly 25 years now & whoever says THIS is the worst #LFC side they've seen is frankly talking out of their anus #
  • @oilsdad haven't got the time or the energy. Too many of them to keep up with anyway. #
  • #eloquenttweetoftheday RT @LynoLFC When you care about something it makes you angry and sad to see it suffer. #
  • IMAGINE IF ROY HAD BOUGHT THOSE PLAYERS EH! JUST IMAGINE IT!!! EH!!!! IMAGINE IT!!!!!!!!!!111!!!1!!! #
  • Ignore the fact that the players involved are half decent and know how to play football properly, just imagine if Roy had bought them eh? #
  • Annoying that on the day Andy Carroll had his best game in months, the team around seemingly didn't care. #
  • No wonder the lad ends up getting so frustrated. Not always his fault, though it more often that not is. #
  • Far too many mentions of Rafa & Roy on my timeline. Both completely irrelevant to what is going at LFC right now. #
  • @Carrot1983 1st half I thought he was arguably our best player, 2nd half less so. #
  • @__Quattro if anyone knows anything about poor defensive performances, it's Kevin Keegan. #
  • Today has reminded me of two things; 1) why I haven't been on here quite as much as I used to; and…. #
  • 2) A quote from Animal Farm, paraphrased thus "Everyones opinion on Twitter is equal but some are more equal than others" #
  • About time Kenny publicly criticised the players. My one and only criticism of him is that he comes across as being too soft in interviews. #

The week in tweets for this past week from The Smiling Assassin

  • BREAKING: Patrice Evra to file complaint with BBC Three for showing the film Donnie Darko, which he personally considers to be racist. #
  • Not that I watch Utd (I have taste after all) but few times I have Patrice Evra has genuinely played very poorly. #
  • It's almost as if he's got something on his mind, like a guilty man who's somehow gotten away with a crime. #
  • Well played Sir. RT @estoy_lee @TSmilinAssassin christ, lets hope he doesn't ever catch 'Zulu' then :) #
  • So Evra gets to come back to Anfield & then gets the pleasure of facing Uruguay with France. That should be a fun few weeks for him, eh? #
  • Annoying coming into a film 2/3rds way through, particularly one I enjoy as much as Donnie Darko. #
  • @thisisanfield his FK against Utd, every single time. #
  • *insert joke about Patrice Evra here* RT @Simonreah Racist Papa John's Receipt http://t.co/puzUSl1g #
  • So Arsenal win 1-0 thanks to Thierry Henry. If ever there was a score & a scorer that defined Arsenal, that would be it. #
  • Not only does Thierry Henry have a fine piece of facial hair, he hasn't lost his touch either. We don't play Arsenal any time soon, do we? #
  • 9 days into this transfer window and lack of completely ludicrous links to players is both refreshing & disappointing in equal measure. #
  • I hope the person at Sky who hired Ben Shepherd to present their football coverage has something very nasty happen to them. #
  • Excuse my language in this tweet but anyone who thinks Luis Suarez will leave #LFC in the January transfer window is a fucking muppet. #
  • What's this I'm hearing? Balanced, reasonably intelligent football debate preceding a match? Oh BBC, you have so much to learn! #
  • There showing Women's Darts on BBC2 right now. Bless 'em, they're trying! #
  • Interesting that Coates & Kuyt both start today, though given we had a game less than 3 days ago suggests changes were always likely. #
  • Why are we not winning 15-0 yet? Bring back Roy, that's what I say! #
  • Draw not good enough but at the same time think of where we were last year. Still a few players off where we need to be. #
  • Think I'll give it till the morning and the "dust settles" before I comment on today's game. For the best I think. #
  • @anlfcfan think it's lack of confidence personally. Showed early on in the season we're good enough, just missing that spark right now. #
